In order to improve the safety of the most vulnerable road users in cities, DAF Trucks released the DAF City Turn Assist system as a factory option for 4×2 FT and 6×2 FTP tractors. This system performs the function of monitoring blind spots and is already available to order. DAF City Turn Assist is also supplied separately for aftermarket installation.
The DAF City Turn Assist protective system warns the driver visually and with an audible signal if there are other road users in the blind spot on the side of the car: pedestrians, cyclists, cars, motorcycles, etc. The monitoring system warns of danger not only when driving in the city at low speed, but also when other vehicles are detected in the adjacent lane at the time of realignment or narrowing of the road when the car is moving at high speed.
DAF City Turn Assist uses radar technology to guarantee effective object detection, even in poor visibility conditions. On the side of the second driver, one short-range radar is installed on the rear fender or next to it. Its strong design is designed for the most difficult operating conditions.

The warning appears on a special LED indicator located on the front pillar on the side of the second driver, next to the side mirror. Audible warnings may also be given when the right turn indicator is turned on. The DAF City Turn Assist factory option includes the installation of the entire system (radar unit, display, etc.).
DAF City Turn Assist can be installed as additional equipment on Euro 6 4×2 FT and 6×2 FTP tractors with MX-11 and MX-13 engines, as well as on CF Electric. For right-hand drive CF and XF models, DAF already offers additional camera and sensor systems designed to protect road users in accordance with regional and regulatory requirements in the UK and Ireland.
