At the annual Fleet Transport Awards, the DAF XD truck with the powerful and economical PACCAR PX-7 engine has been recognized as the ‘Irish Truck of the Year 2026’ in the medium-duty category. This is yet another award for DAF’s new generation truck series, which has recently won numerous awards across Europe.
The prestigious Fleet Transport Awards took place at the Johnstown Estate Hotel in County Meath, near Dublin, and brought together over 650 guests from across the Irish transport industry.
The Fleet Transport Awards jury, made up of commercial editors, transport experts, operators and drivers, carried out a detailed assessment of each nominated vehicle, assessing performance, efficiency, safety, driver comfort and ease of use.

“After just a few seconds behind the wheel of a DAF XD, the driver will understand that this truck is special,” the jury noted. “First and foremost, the 6.7-liter PACCAR PX-7 engine paired with the PowerLine 8-speed automated transmission provides a level of refinement never seen before in this class. The truck is a joy to drive, and the 2.5-meter-wide cab feels like a much larger vehicle, even in the day cab version. The XD also offers impressive safety benefits thanks to a new engine brake that delivers up to 300 hp.”

“Visibility is becoming increasingly important in urban distribution. The DAF XD direct view system solves this problem practically and efficiently, providing best-in-class forward visibility. The view is further enhanced by DAF’s well-thought-out digital camera system, especially the DAF Corner View camera, which gives an excellent view of the area directly in front of the truck and from the passenger side. Equally important is the ease of access for drivers performing multiple transportations. Undoubtedly, the DAF XD sets new standards in this segment.”
