On Thursday, June 25, His Majesty King Willem-Alexander paid a working visit to the DAF plant in Eindhoven. The visit took place within the framework of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the automotive industry. After a short tour from DAF President Harry Walters, the King spoke to a number of factory workers.
The working visit to Eindhoven started with Nedschroef, a company that manufactures fasteners, mechanisms and tools for DAF among others. Later, the king visited DAF’s production facilities, where he was informed about the impact of the crisis and the recovery of the production process. The conversation with the workers at the DAF truck factory focused on the adjustments that were made to the production process and the impact they had on the workers’ daily activities.
At the end of his working visit, the King took part in a round table – with senior figures from the Dutch automotive industry – on the implications of the crisis caused by COVID-19 for the sector as a whole. Participants discussed manufacturing plants that were forced to close abruptly and, after making all the necessary adjustments to the work process, resumed production.
