DAF STARTS SERIES PRODUCTION OF NEW GENERATION TRUCKS

In the first week of November, serial production of new generation DAF trucks started in Eindhoven. The first car to roll off the assembly line, the red XG+, equipped with a 12.9-liter PACCAR MX-13 engine, was handed over to André Verbeek, Managing Director and owner of Verbeek Agra Vision, in the presence of Eindhoven Mayor John Jorritsma and DAF Trucks President Harry Wolters.

DAF became the first truck manufacturer to introduce a completely new generation of tractors, developed in accordance with the new EU requirements for weight and dimensions.

“DAF is not just the first, but the only company to do this,” said DAF Trucks President Harry Walters. — This means that our new highway tractors — XF, XG and XG+ will become a standard in the industry in terms of economy, safety and comfort. Improving these indicators was the main motive behind the decision of the European Commission, which gave participants more opportunities to develop new, more advanced cabins. By lengthening the front end by 16 cm and paying maximum attention to aerodynamics, we were able to reduce fuel consumption by 10% and reduce CO2 emissions by about the same amount.”

The place of action is Brainport Eindhoven

The mayor of Eindhoven, John Jorritsma, proudly noted the success of his city, which is the center of the Brainport Eindhoven innovation cluster. “This significant event took place in Eindhoven – the city of technology, design and knowledge. The fact that it is here that the DAF company today starts serial production of high-tech, revolutionary trucks of the new generation is the best characteristic of our city.”

The new generation of DAF trucks is based on a completely new platform that is completely ready to use the power lines of the future, which are currently being developed by DAF and work on alternative sources of energy – electricity and water.

A new standard of driver comfort

The first car of the new generation was handed over to Andre Verbeek, the managing director and owner of the Dutch company Verbeek Agra Vision, which is engaged in domestic and international transportation of poultry meat and eggs and has a fleet of 30 trucks, 25 of which are DAF brands. The iconic XG+ will be taken over by Hennentransport’s subsidiary Hooijer. “Along with unsurpassed reliability and a low level of costs per kilometer of travel, an important argument in favor of our decision to choose DAF was the outstanding level of comfort for the driver,” explains Andre Verbeek. — Introducing the new flagship model XG+, DAF is once again setting new standards. Today, this is a very important factor given the shortage of drivers.”
