DAF Trucks further improves the already industry-leading safety and driver comfort in all new generation DAF models and adds a full range of new Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) from the factory. These new systems will be standard on all DAF XB, XD, XF, XG and XG+ models produced from January 2024.
Improved emergency braking system(AEBS) of the latest generation is equipped with both a radar and a camera to warn vulnerable road users ahead of the vehicle. An additional radar is installed for the new featureDrive Off Assist, detects and warns the driver of approaching vulnerable road users when the truck is moving at low speed.Event recorderrecords images and data when AEBS brake warning is activated and the systemDAF Side & Turn Assistalerts if pedestrians, cyclists or vehicles are in the vehicle’s “blind spots”, including the rear of the trailer.
In addition, each new generation DAF truck will be equipped with Cspeed limit detection system, which will inform the driver about the actual speed limit and warn in case of speeding, andLane departure warning systemwill help to avoid dangerous situations by warning about unintentional lane changes.
Novarear view camerashows what’s happening in the back of the truck on a display mounted in the cab.High beam headlight switching assistant(option) automatically switches off the main beam when other vehicles are driving in front of or close to it. As a continuation of the functions of the previous generation of DAF trucks,emergency stop signalwarns other road users with emergency lights when the truck suddenly reduces speed.
In addition, new functions have appeared that further increase the safety of the driver. SystemDAF Drowsiness Detectionassesses the driver’s alertness and warns when a break is needed. The trucks will be prepared to install the deviceAlcohol Interlock, which requires a negative alcohol test result before the engine can be started.
