DAF Trucks presents the LF Electric, a fully electric 19-tonne truck for urban transport. This modern truck has a range of up to 280 km.
DAF is one of the leaders in the field of electric powertrains for commercial vehicles. DAF became the first European truck manufacturer to launch a fully electric tractor: the CF Electric (with a gross vehicle weight of up to 37 tons), intended mainly for the service of supermarkets and internal city transport. And recently, the DAF company expanded the series of electric trucks and presented a rigid chassis 6×2 CF Electric with a steerable rear axle (with a gross vehicle weight of up to 29 tons). This truck will be an ideal basis, for example, for the equipment of garbage trucks with “zero emissions”.
CF Electric trucks have already driven several hundreds of thousands of kilometers with our large customers, which allowed DAF to accumulate considerable experience in the operation of electric drive technology. The new LF Electric is DAF’s newest product, equipped with a fully electric powertrain.
Regular routes
The LF Electric electric motor provides a nominal power of 250 kW. (peak power 370 kW.) and nominal torque over 1200 Nm (peak torque 3700 Nm). A block of lithium-iron-phosphate batteries (LFP) with a total volume of 282 kWh is used as a power source. (effective capacity 254 kW/h). Thanks to this, the LF Electric series has a range of at least 280 kilometers with “zero emissions”, and this is more than enough for the needs of urban transportation.
Batteries of the latest generation
DAF equips all its fully electric vehicles with so-called LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) batteries. These are more environmentally friendly batteries of the latest generation that do not contain cobalt or magnesium. In addition, they have a more efficient arrangement of components, which leads to a higher energy density per liter, and the chemical composition of the battery guarantees maximum thermal safety. LFP batteries come with a 6-year warranty, confirming DAF’s confidence in their efficiency, reliability and durability.
Slow and fast charging
A special feature of the new DAF LF Electric is the “Combined charging system”. That allows you to charge the truck from the usual electrical network. This solution is ideal for situations where the truck returns to base at the end of the day. In slow charging mode (400 V AC, 22 kW, 3 phases), the battery can be charged from 20% to 80% in 6.5 hours. Full charging (from 0% to 100%) takes up to 12 hours. With special equipment, fast charging (650 V DC, 150 kW) of batteries from 20% to 80% takes only 60 minutes, or 2 hours for a full charge.
Available electrical GDP
As an option, the new DAF LF Electric comes with a 400V electric PTO to drive additional equipment such as an electric refrigeration unit or an electro-hydraulic crane. This allows you to eliminate a separate generator and achieve “zero emissions”.
Two wheel bases
The LF Electric is initially supplied as a 19t. rigid chassis with a wheelbase of 5.3 m or 5.85 m. The truck has a permissible weight of the body and cargo of 11,700 kg, which is sufficient for most types of urban freight transportation.

It goes without saying that the LF Electric benefits from the outstanding technological developments of its internal combustion engine siblings. Like all LF trucks, it provides convenient entry into the cabin, excellent all-round visibility, high driver comfort and a minimum turning radius, which means excellent maneuverability. This is the perfect truck for every urban truck driver.
The DAF LF Electric, developed in collaboration with Dana Inc., will be in production from May at the Leyland Trucks plant (Great Britain).
